Who am I?

My name is Adrienne Carr (she/her) and I was born in Calgary, Alberta. From a very young age I have always been passionate about reading and writing and fine arts.

I carried this passion with me into adulthood and pursued a BA in English at the University of Calgary. I am a deep lover of learning, and want to share the joy I get from education, arts and humanities with my students.

My Interests

In my personal life, I am an avid animal lover. I also enjoy practicing yoga, reading, creating art and playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends. In the summer I spend a lot of time in B.C enjoying the mountains and lakes.

I've spent much time working as a tutor and volunteering in an educational capacity. For example, I have coached early learners in ice skating and designed learning experiences for  Calgary Public Library's creative writing program. Tutoring gave me the opportunity to work individually with students in many grade levels and disciplines.

I pursue my own self-care when I take time out of my busy life to engage with my interests. If you are interested in reading more about my personal self-care plan, please click the button below.

My Education Story

I was brought to this profession first by my personal love of learning, and second by the teachers I had growing up. The role of a teacher is an extremely important one; we have both the privilege and the responsibility of being not only educators of curriculum, but mentors to students. I hope to create a welcoming environment in my classroom and help students discover their potential.
